The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has claimed thousands of injured. The victims often suffer for years from the traumatic experiences. In addition to psychological injuries such as sleep disorders, depression, persecution mania or anti-social behaviour, many young people are physically handicapped. These impairments range from visual and perceptual disorders, walking impediments to paraplegia.
Institutes with specialized medical rehabilitation are available in Palestine. After therapy, the young people are left with no prospects. Young people and their families are often left to their own devices. This is precisely where the YMCA East Jerusalem reintegration programme comes in.
Your donation will provide a disabled or traumatised Palestinian youth with psychosocial and therapeutic support from the YMCA East Jerusalem for one year. Through the professional support, the young people learn to deal with traumas and to build up an independent life despite their disability.
