Tenth "summer camp" in Haiti
Tenth "summer camp" in Haiti
The Horyzon project "Espace Sûr" in Pétion-Ville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, offers girls and young women a safe place where they can meet, exchange ideas and learn from each other. This also includes the "summer camp", which offers all-day leisure activities over several weeks during the summer vacations. This summer, the "Summercamp" took place for the tenth time. Under the motto "Ann Vole Al Jwenn Objektif Nou" ("Let's fly towards our goals"), a total of around 150 girls and young women aged 5 to 18 took part. For three weeks, they were able to attend different workshops every day and learned ways to boost their well-being and self-esteem. They were also able to discover their artistic skills in drawing and painting studios or in crochet and jewelry-making courses. The obstacle courses and water activities were also very popular with the young women.
Thanks to these activities, the participants were able to gain new experiences and learn important values from the course leaders. As a result, they can move around in a safe environment and enjoy a few summer days away from violence and crime.
